Summer Heat and Longer Days
“Under the boardwalk, down by the sea” – The Drifters
Hello, hello. How was your week? Have you been enjoying July? I know I’ve enjoyed the longer days and more sunlight, even if it comes with extra heat.
This week I finished up a writing course and a songwriting challenge with a few people around town. I have really gotten into songwriting these past few months. There is so much to say, and music is a great way to express any situation. It is all around us, and all encompassing. For whatever mood we may be in, there is a song to reflect that mood, that shift in perspective. I’ve got a few writing sessions lined up this upcoming week as well with new co-writers. I am hopeful to get even more in depth songs out.
Next Monday I am hosting a writers night down in Smyrna. Check my calendar page for more details on the when and where. If you are a writer in the Nashville area, I would love to see you and hear what YOU have to say. Come share your words, your emotions, your ideas in a safe environment. It’s free, and a great way to meet other songwriters or promoters to help you with your music.
Self-love is a term that has been thrown around a lot lately, especially as the year wanes on and the news continues to report issues that are increasingly grim. Hate seems to be something that is projected by a plethora of groups, no matter what they believe in. But hate has a polarizing effect. It preys on fear, which in turn forces people who would otherwise not be spiteful to react in fear.
I recently wrote a piece for the writing class I just finished with a wonderful coach, Leah Marjorie Cox. I encourage you to check it out on my Facebook Page, and let me know what you think. You may or may not agree with me, and that’s okay. But this week, try approaching each situation out of love rather than fear, and see how it can transform your entire outlook on life.
Until next week-
